once again with the hatred of everything
So I hate Bank of America a lot right now.
On Sunday, cat was blocked again. Despite the fact that the frickin' thousand dollar surgery was supposed to prevent that from ever happening again. Go to vet. Pay for cat to be cathed. Fortunately, this is less expensive now- 300 rather than 1000. Still, 300 that I don't have, due to previous overdraft fees. But I figure, okay. I'll just have to overdraft. Whatever. Another 35 down the hole. So I pay the vet, miraculously my card goes through, and I take cat, once again be-coned. (They charged me 17.50 for the stupid cone- if I'd known, I would have brought one. I have three now, laying around the house. Well, two laying around the house, one tied to the cat.) Then, I check my bank account. Instead of showing an overdraft for the 300 charge, it is showing an overdraft for everything I bought in the last week.

Apparently, it takes a few days for a charge to go from 'pending' to 'complete'. Charges are taken in order of most expensive to least expensive, so if a $300 charge is pending and a $20 charge is pending, it takes the 300 first and charges you for both. So I had FIVE overdraft fees for ONE charge that actually overdrafted me. I begged and pleaded with the bank- the lady just told me that I should keep a register, which, um, how would that help? I knew exactly what I was spending, I just didn't psychically know I would overdraft my account on Sunday when I bought a stupid sandwich on Thursday. Their solution seems to be either a) have more money or b) don't have emergencies. Which, thank you. That is very helpful advice. Even more nonsensical, my mom loaned me enough money to cover the amount that I'd overdrafted before the charges went from "pending" to "completed", and they *still* charged me an overdraft fee! Essentially, it is set up to charge the most overdraft fees possible. Grh. To add insult to injury, their statement that the largest charge is charged first seems to be a lie, because all the "completed" charges on my account show in the order they were purchased, and the Sunday purchase was still pending for a few days after they were completed.

I get to take my cat into the vet for a checkup today and hope that nothing's wrong with him, because I have 77 cents in my account. wheeeee.

And now I'm going to go watch the Nigerian Job again and drown my woes in Leverage. PS people you should join [info]rewatch_job.
