So Livejournal has pretty much made it clear that whatever they feel about fandom at large, artists who draw questionable material are not safe. One of the artists suspended says she doesn't draw chan. I, on the other hand, kinda do, so it's pretty clear I'm not wanted. I mean, none of my stuff has been explicit, but I've definitely sexually suggestive art with people under 18- probably most of my suggestive art has people under 18, actually. Steph/Cass, Clark/Tim, Clark/Dick, Tim/Kon, Bruce/Terry and the various Batman/Robin pictures (oh, toon!Timmy. aheh.) Actually, now that I think of it, most of my art with entirely adult characters has been gen. Hrm. (*waves* Hi, Chels! This would be why I don't give my fandom journal out to RL friends. It's kinda awkward.)
Plus, LJ's piss-poor handling of the situation makes me unwilling to give them my money anyway. Everything about this has been badly done- from the timing of the permanent account sale to the contradicting statements to ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) burr86's reassurance that they were only going after the real pedos, honest- I don't know if they're incompetent or actively malicious or some hideous marriage of both, but I no longer care. Any good faith I once had in them is gone. It's downright shady, and I bite my thumb at them.

Initially I was going to be defiant and keep posting until they banned me, but then I remembered that they would delete all my accounts, and I still want to read my RL flist's friends-only posts. So much for principle. I've locked all the questionable stuff to private for now, and deleted them from scrapbook. Once I find somewhere to host them, I'll let you know. In the meantime, if there's anything you want, drop me an e-mail and I'll send it over.
I'm red_eft on InsaneJournal, Greatest Journal, and JournalFen. New art will be posted on IJ, but I'll include a link to it here. The exception- for now, at least- to that will be the flocked previews for my original comic, only because not all the people on that filter are moving. Everything else will be crossposted- so I'll be posting here for IBARW, for instance, and mirroring at IJ (and maybe GJ and JF for good measure- I'm not sure yet.) I have comment notification on everywhere, so wherever you comment, I'll read it. Not sure what the long-term plan will be.
I have more to say- no doubt I will show you my thoughts on fannish diaspora later. I think that it might not be such a bad thing to have several different fannish bases, in the end. I also think that we need to be aware of what the laws actually say, how they affect us, and how we can fight them. The people who are saying moving won't solve everything are right. This isn't just about fandom, and it's not just about LJ, and it's not stopping here. But this is the heads up for now, and for anyone who might be wondering where some of my art went.
And now I'm going to write about racism. Then I might draw something obscene involving underage characters. Then I might have a sandwich. |
