I have internets again! Contact with the world may resume. Will catch up on comments when I get back from work.
In other news, LJ's latest update is... nrg. I feel like we've been jerked around a lot recently. I think this policy clarification is a step in the right direction, but it's kind of too little, too late. If they'd posted this from the beginning, I think things would have gone down very differently. Still, this: * How do these policies apply to images of minors who are not real?
To ensure that we are compliant with child pornography laws, we have decided to treat any content which contains a graphic visual depiction of a minor (anyone under the age of 18, as defined by Federal and California state law) engaged in sexually explicit conduct as a violation of our policy regarding illegal content (see this linkfor definitions of graphic, visual depiction, and sexually explicit conduct). We feel this approach creates the clearest guidelines possible for users to follow and for the Abuse Prevention Team to enforce, and minimizes the risk of an incorrect evaluation of material. In short, we want to eliminate child porn from being hosted on LiveJournal. makes me unhappy. I mean, one- drawings are not child porn, though I can understand not wanting them here.
I don't know... I'm kind of concerned. I think fandom tends to be more concerned about writers than artists, and even people who are okay with text about minors might not be with visual depictions. Which means that *I* kind of feel I have to leave, but the rest of fandom... might not. I mean, honestly, I'd probably be fine, because nothing I've drawn- with people of any age- could be called pornographic. But I don't know that I trust LJ's word on... anything, honestly. Meh. Right now the whole thing is stressing me out and making me feel a little sick to my stomach. I think I'm going to sit back and focus on my IBARW posts and see how this plays out. (...probably a bad sign when talking about racism is the more calming of two options.) |
