[art] no, really. art. Cass, Steph, Jason, and Robin!Steph+Huntress
Oh, hay! Art!
Lest you think I might actually start producing fannish content on a regular basis again- I actually did these sketches a few months ago, during my training for work and didn't scan them until now. They aren't much- I hadn't drawn in a long-ass time when I drew these- but I wanted to share anyway.


I don't think Steph ever worked with Huntress in her time as Robin, but I think she should have. I might clean this up and color it later, because I rather like it. or I might not.

These sketches require a brief introduction. Well. They probably don't *require* it, but I'm giving it to you anyway.

So in my head, there is this sprawling epic AU. It diverges from canon precisely at the point of the second crisis and ignores everything after that (except the stuff I don't feel like ignoring) and involves Jason, Cass and Steph patrolling Gotham in the lost year and trying to put themselves back together and figure out who they are apart from Bruce. (It's what this icon is 'for' in my head. Though I think I'm going to change the Cass side- I don't like the art.) There are a lot of parallels that I want to explore- Jason's (adoptive) mother was a drug addict and his father a minor criminal, much like Steph. They briefly thought Shiva might be Jason's mother- she is Cass's. Cass's original purpose was to lead the League of Assassins to protect Talia, who kind of adopted Jason in his brain-damaged zombie phase. Stuff like that.

The real reason I didn't post these sketches when I drew them is because I was hoping to post them along with, you know. The story. Problem is, I have connections but no plot. I haven't given up hope, because I am stubborn like that, but who knows when or if I'll get it together. Feel free to survey my LJ for evidence of my past success at actually writing stuff. *grin* So I'm posting them now, instead.

Jason! Not terribly exciting, actually.

I tried to make Cass's costume less stupid stereotypical ninja-dragon-lady and more street-clothes adapted for fighting, like Jason's costume. I also took some inspiration from some of Shiva's clothes, though for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

...I have no idea. I think I just got bored and wanted to do fancy lighting. It's not a very Cass-like expression, either. Maybe she's possessed? Yeah. No idea.

Steph's costume is different- it looks more like a *costume* than either of the others', and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I want her to keep the mask- elements of her father's costume-but maybe ditch the spandex? I like the idea of normal clothes with one odd element- Jay's mask, Steph's kercheif..dunno what for Cass, maybe gloves? Although Steph might still want to *look* like a superhero in ways the others don't, so. Still thinking.
